TOP FIRESTOP SERVICES PROVIDER IN ONTARIO

PFS provides firestop services in Ontario for buildings, following fire and building code standards. Through our services, we aim to maintain the integrity of fire separations and effective compartmentation.

Building Fire Safety

There are four basic components to building fire safety; detection and alarms, suppression, compartmentation, and building occupant emergency education. All these elements must work together to provide the best possible strategy for the fire safety of occupants, property, and firefighters.

Compartmentation

Compartmentation assists in confining a fire and smoke to its origin, thereby giving building occupants time to exit the building, safe means of egress through the building, time for the building suppression system to control the fire, and safer means for firefighters to arrive and control the fire.

Building Code Standards

Building codes and fire codes mandate that when a fire separation is penetrated by building services or a construction joint is formed, it must be repaired to its rated integrity using approved firestop methods.

Fire Separation

Compartmentation is created by constructing wall and floor assemblies designed to withstand fire from 30 minutes to 4 hours. This fire resistance wall or floor is called fire separation.

In certain types of buildings, fire separations are considered to have wall fire separations with a 0-hour fire rating. These walls are considered smoke separations to prevent smoke from migrating throughout the building.

Firestop or Smoke Seals

When openings are created for building services or construction joints, gaps, and spaces in floors or walls, it becomes critical to seal these openings located in fire separations. The method of sealing these openings is called “firestop systems ” or “smoke seals.”

Firestops – Fire Separations With 1/2 to 4-Hour Fire Ratings.
Smoke Seals – Fire Separations With 0-Hour Fire Ratings.
